It becomes reddish immediately after installation, Cherry darkens over time to a beautiful red-brown. Typical characteristics for Cherry are pitch streaks, which are clearly visible as knotlike dark spots.

Karelia hardwood floors produces Cherry from North America (Prunus Serotina). This wood species is the biggest in North America. It can grow to a height of 99 ft with a trunk diameter of 24 in. Cherry is usually harvested young, at the age of 35 to 40 years.
