Doussie

When newly laid, the Doussie floor has a golden or reddish hue. Then, as time goes by, the colours deepen while the grain becomes more even.

Doussie, when taken fresh out of the box, is golden brown or reddish, but colour turns darker due to the sunlight equalising colour variances in the timber. Grain pattern is often intertwined. A characteristic of Doussie is moderate expansion and contraction due to changes in air humidity.

Doussie (Afzelia pipindensis) grows in Africa, mainly Cameroon. Doussie grows to a height of 98 ft with a trunk diameter of 36 - 47 in.

Janka-hardness 1810.

Doussie may contain small amounts of resin, which shows as light spots on the wood's surface.
