The Smoked Oak Matt, which has been treated to a dark brown colour, is the latest addition to the Karelia Amber Style Leader Collection. It creates a strongly intimate feeling to the interior. The dark brown colour has been achieved in a special treatment where naturally greenish brown colour turns to a beautiful natural dark brown with many hues. The top layer material of hardwood floors created with this method is called smoked oak. This way the traditional, durable oak becomes a hardwood floor with a totally new look.
In this special treatment the whole wear layer of the hardwood floor is coloured, not just the surface as in staining. Thus the hardwood floor can be sanded without a change in the colour tone of the floor. The colour tone of the hardwood floor also does not change due to the UV-radiation of the sun, as in the special treatment the colouring is based on a natural change of the wood.
The product is safe in use, it does not emit any harmful substances into the air. This is why we, as the first producer, have been granted the M1-certificate, which testifies low emissions, also for through-coloured hardwood floors. The M1 is the lowest emission class of building materials and the tightest classification for inside air quality.
As the different parts of wood react differentially to treatment, the degree of colouring also varies. That is why we offer the Smoked Oak Matt hardwood floor in two different versions: the more even toned Smoked Oak Matt and the more colourful Smoked Oak Natural Matt. Both products are 3-strip floors. Both are also matt lacquered, which gives them a silky matt gloss.
